Sijia Liu
Anchor & Reporter, CP24
Sijia Liu joined CP24 in May 2024 as an anchor and reporter, focusing on breaking news in the GTHA, both live from the field and from the anchor desk. While Sijia thrives in a breaking news environment and in delivering the top stories of the day, she is also passionate about sharing positive and uplifting stories. Prior to joining CP24, Sijia held various anchoring and reporting positions at CTV Kitchener, CTV Windsor, and Global News. During her tenure in Kitchener, her investigative reporting on the high number of sexual assault cases dismissed due to staffing shortages and courtroom closures earned her a 2023 RTDNA nomination for enterprise reporting. She was also one of the first reporters on the scene of the Ambassador Bridge closure, where protestors from the Freedom Convoy blocked border entry during the COVID-19 pandemic. She earned a RTDNA Breaking News Award nomination for her coverage of the blockade with CTV Windsor. Sijia is also interested in sports journalism, and has reported for the New England Sports Network and the Ontario Hockey League. She also spent time in Atlanta, Georgia, as one of five women selected for the “Rising Media Stars” sports reporting program. Born in China, Liu immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of four. Raised in Toronto, she attended Seneca College and York University, where she was a member of the women’s varsity basketball team. In her spare time, Liu enjoys working out, watching football, travelling, and meeting new people. She is fluent in English and conversational Mandarin.
